How to Deal with Hip Pain at - Home

What Causes Hip Pain?

Hip pain can become a major issue that can occur because of several different reasons. It is often brought on due to overuse of the hip joint or the surrounding cartilage and muscles. It is also a potential side effect of arthritis, tendinitis, or a pinched nerve. In more serious scenarios, hip pain could be a sign of osteoporosis or cancer. Talking to your doctor first is always a good idea.

At-Home Treatment

It is possible to treat hip pain from home if your symptoms aren’t extreme. You must first eliminate the possibility that it could be a symptom of a more serious condition. Most of the time however, it is a short-term inconvenience that can absolutely be treated from home. As with most physical injuries, rest is your best friend. Avoid bending your body at the hip and be sure not to sleep on the injured side.

Try a treatment of cold and heat in tandem, switching every few minutes.
Stretching can also be an effective means of treatment, so long as you’re not pushing too hard. If you exhaust these methods, there is always the option to use over-the-counter medications to help relieve pain. Ibuprofen can help to fight the inflammation that might otherwise be aggravating the affected area.
